Lead Teacher | grammaticus.co
Tom Cox, our guide for this hour of Vergil, has taught Latin and Greek for nearly two decades and thoroughly enjoys introducing avid readers to the joys of the Classical languages. During the day, he teaches at an all-boys school just outside of Washington, DC, and in the afternoons, he's often online teaching homeschoolers, including his own. He has long enjoyed teaching the epics and, when asked to pick his favorite, goes with the one he is currently reading.
The Master Epic of the West
Vergil's Aeneid is one of the most influential pieces of literature ever produced in the Western World. Unlike Homer, it was never lost to the West, and its influence reached far beyond poetry and story-telling to the military, political, and personal choices of so many eras of history.
